NORWICH, Conn. – Three Vermont pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, the offense scored six runs for the third straight game and the defense turned three double plays as the Lake Monsters snapped a two-game losing streak with a 6-0 New York-Penn League victory Sunday evening at Dodd Stadium.

Kyle Friedrichs, Kevin Ferreras and Tyler Painton each tossed three scoreless innings with one strikeout apiece. Freidrichs did not allow a hit in his three inning.

Richie Martin continued his hot start with the Lake Monsters (6-1), going 3-for-5. Seth Brown was 2-for-4 and Trace Loehr 1-for-3 with two runs.

Connecticut starter Sandy Baez allowed three runs on five hits over five innings to take the loss.

NECBL baseball

•Laconia 9, Vermont Mountaineers 4: The Laconia Muskrats defeated the Vermont Mountaineers in NECBL action at Robbie Mills Field on Sunday night.

The Muskrats (14-10) pushed seven runs across to take a commanding 9-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning to put a stamp on the win.

Vermont has its four-game winning streak snapped and falls to 12-10 on the summer.

American Legion

•Essex 12-12, Addison County 1-0: Essex put up 12 runs in both games of a double header against Addison COunty to sweep the two game.

Deagan Poland was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Riley Fitzgerald was 4-for-5 including two doubles in the first game. James Gaboriault earned the win with seven innings of work.

In the second game, Liam Coulter had two RBIs and four runs for Essex, while Maverick King for the win with seven shutout innings.
