Lake Erie Monsters salary
How are things going up in Lake Erie, with the Avs’ AHL affiliate? Better lately.
Sami Aittokallio, in fact, became the first Monsters goalie to post back-to-back shutouts since 2009 with his 3-0 blanking of the Rochester Americans Sunday night. Stefan Elliott, Michael Sgarbossa and Guillaume Desbiens were the goal-scorers. Aittokallio shut out Rochester 5-0 the night before, with newcomer Troy Bourke getting a goal and two assists.
My spies in Lake Erie tell me Elliot and Duncan Siemens have played a bit better of late. Siemens was hurt earlier in the year and Elliott had some health issues too. But both are playing regularly right now and looking better. Joey Hishon, the Avs’ first-round pick from 2010, is out again with an upper body injury. I don’t know if it’s another concussion or not.
The Denver Cutthroats have had a good season, with the regular-season winding down now and the playoffs ahead. Avalanche prospect Kent Patterson is playing well in goal for the Cutthroats, with a .920 saves percentage. The team’s stats are here.
